Rolypoly Family Farm Boogie x Teach Us How

ROLYPOLY FAMILY DANCE JAM @ KAMPUNG KAMPUS

One Day Only: 11th March!

Time 0330 – 0530pm

Its a wrap for Season 1!! Rolypoly Family will be hosting a Family Farm Boogie at Ground-Up Initiative’s Kampung Kampus! We begin in the studio with a veggie fun dance jam (with facilitation by dance artists Faye and Felicia) before heading out for a short farm walk and snack time.

This is an opportunity for families to seek new connection with nature and the most natural resource you have – your breathing and dancing bodies. If your children have not been out to an urban farm here in Singapore (much less dance at one), this would be a fantastic first!

And as with the spirit of Rolypoly Family dance classes, we are providing space for children and grown-ups to partner-up and collaborate, whether it be through exploring movement and dance, following their curiosities on a walk, or preparing a snack.

Children and grown-ups should be dressed in comfortable attire for active movement. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself rolling, crawling, climbing, jumping, going upside down, ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing) or all of the above! No prior dance experience needed. There is no “right way” or “wrong way” to dance in the jam, though we provide tips for safe dancing.

There are very limited places in this event so do register soon to avoid disappointment! For each child, there can be up to 2 participating grown-ups due to studio size.

  • Recommended for ages 2-5 years and their families
  • Quantity: Maximum of 6 families, maximum 2 adults per child
  • Families that sign up before 26th Feb get a free Rolypoly Family tote bag

***Our friends from Chapter Zero will also be at Kampung Kampus with their Pop-Up Adventure Playground for children 3 years and above. We will head over to join them after our snack time ***

Family Farm Boogie is organised by Rolypoly Family in partnership with Ground-Up Initiative, and in conjunction with Chapter Zero’s Pop-Up Adventure Playground.

ABOUT ROLYPOLY DANCE

ROLYPOLY FAMILY Dance is based on Faye’s dance explorations with her 2 year-old son and is inspired by intuitive dancer-parent-teachers out there, including Itay Yatuv/Contakids (Israel) and Heike Kuhlmann (Berlin). Each session is also influenced by the kids and adults in the room, who come in with their own creativity and movement styles.

Resident Dance Artists: Faye Lim & Felicia Lim

Faye Lim

Faye Lim founded Rolypoly Family to share a space where dance and community can be enjoyed by dancers and families with young children. Her practice in movement and contact improvisation, experience teaching dance to young children, and never-ending play with her 2 year-old son form the base for her work in Rolypoly Family.

She continues to collaborate with other artists on performance-making, directs the Strangeweather Movement Group and facilitates jams and workshops in Singapore and dance festivals in KL. She holds an MFA in Dance from the NYU Tisch School, where she received the Graduate Award for Artistic Initiative.

Felicia Lim

Felicia Lim is a dance practitioner based in Singapore. She studied dance in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and continued on to her final year in SUNY Purchase College, graduating with a BFA in dance. While in school and through various workshops and intensives focusing in somatic practices and contact improvisation, she experienced diverse ways of approaching dance and is interested in discovering more about the relationship of the body and movement.
